Megan + Daniel

This summer we have had the privilege + honour of going on some amazing adventures with our couples, including this Sonora Resort Wedding with Megan + Daniel.

It started with an early morning boat trip weaving in between coastal islands, through narrow channels + over some of the strongest tidal rapids off the coast of BC. After just over an hour we came up on a fishing resort tucked away between forest + mountains + the remoteness of this place made us feel like we had been transported to a place far far away.

Now let’s talk about this special place called Sonora Resort. Just as we pulled up to the dock, Daniel + some of the guests were heading out for some salmon fishing. Not a bad way to spend the morning of your wedding!

Before meeting up with the bride + her ladies, we were taken on a quick tour of the resort. In the winter, Mike had the opportunity to join Megan and Erin (the wedding planner) on a site visit to the Island. This however was my first time and it was more beautiful than what I imagined.

As for most weddings, leading up to their day I became obsessive with checking the weather. Things were not looking good. They were calling for rain + the sky was supporting that prediction. Throughout the morning the weather was quickly changing. Overcast to blue skies and then out of nowhere, a downpour. I think the ceremony had been moved three time throughout the morning from the inside location, back to the dock.

Thankfully moments before their first look, the rain stopped + the clouds parted and stayed that way so they could have their ceremony on the dock over looking the ocean. It was a perfect spot + the faint rainbow in the backdrop + sea lions singing only a few feet away from the ceremony only added to the experience.

This Sonora Resort wedding is one we will always remember. Megan + Daniel, thanks for inviting us to be a part of your day. We have loved getting to know you both over the past few months + we look forward to our visits in Winnipeg!

It was our first time working with them + it was such a treat. Clare Day for the beautiful florals. Rob from Sideone was a one man show for this wedding + killed it. Always love getting to work with him. Michelle Davidson from Modern Celebrant for officiating the wedding ceremony + doing such a fabulous job. We loved being a part of what she does during a ceremony. And last but certianly not least, Erin from Filosophi Events for truly being a master at her job. Any chance we get to work with her + her team is an absolute joy for us. Thanks for moving the ceremony several times, for letting us steal Megan + Daniel away at dusk, and for making our job so fun.
