Nicole + Jake
Nicole + Jake met while traveling the world. He was from the UK, she was from Canada. They fell in love, and moved to Vancouver to start their lives together. We knew this was going to be a match made in heaven from the very first email. It's really special for Mike and I when we meet couples like Nicole + Jake...people who have similar interests + we could imagine being friends with for years to come. They truly are two of the kindest, most sincere, fun, full of life, raddest people we have ever met. For so many reasons, Nicole + Jake's Green Water Resort wedding in Pemberton, BC was one of our favorite weddings from this summer. The venue was organic + intimate and perfect for anyone who loves the outdoors. It was surrounded by mountains, situated beside a river, and had teepees + chickens. Sounds like heaven to me. We knew that their wedding was going to be really special but it by far exceeded all of our (already high) expectations. As Nicole + Jake's families would be travelling from overseas + eastern Canada, they wanted their wedding to not just be a one day event. They wanted to spend time with the people they love the most while showing off beautiful BC. Picking a location like Green Water was a perfect choice. When we arrived in Pemberton on Friday night it was pouring rain + threatened to do the same on Saturday. Thankfully it was only a threat. Green Water was even more beautiful than what we had seen in photographs + all the personal touches that Nicole + Jake incorporated only enhanced the already stunning setting. Picture frames hung on trees, beautiful flower arrangements from Bathtub Gardens (a local flower farm) lined the aisle + reception tables, chalk hearts were painted on the road leading up to Green Water + a giant LOVE ball floated in the pond. After spending the weekend with Nicole + Jake and their family + friends we left feeling like we had just hung out with people we had known for years. Everyone was so warm + welcoming we felt less like "vendors" + more like family. That means so much to us. Every aspect of the day was filled with so much love + raw emotion. Whether it was the hug the moms shared when Nicole put on her dress, or when she laughed/cried walking down the aisle with her dad, or the laughter that filled the tent when the groomsmen roasted Jake. The emotion throughout the whole day was infectious.
My favorite memory from the wedding was when Nicole + Jake took a minute to take in everything that had happened up until that moment. They hugged as they looked over the river + you could see the tears start to well up in Nicole's eyes. Weddings can be overwhelming in so many ways. For many, it feels like an out of body experience. It is happening so fast that its hard to really remember it all. Taking a few minutes during your wedding day to really be present + take it all in is a beautiful thing.
Nicole + Jake wanted to enjoy the outdoors, sit by the fire, and to dance the night away under the stars with the people they love the most on their wedding day. Happy to say that they got to do it all.
