Hello from Mexico.

We are currently in beautiful Mexico getting ready to photograph Paige and Brents wedding. It’s going to be an amazing day celebrating with Paige and Brent and their closest friends and family. Thankful for good weather + the most beautiful couple to photograph! I have shot a few destination weddings but this is our first time shooting one together. That makes me very happy :)

Before the wedding starts, we wanted to share a recent engagement session we did with Patricia + Victor. We loved getting to photograph these two in their home. It was a beautiful space, with amazing views of the city, and furniture to die for. Victor owns a store that sells mid century furniture so I knew their space would be straight out of a magazine…and it was! Thanks Patricia + Victor for having us in your home. It was a dream to photograph in!

This week is birthday week…yes, I think when you turn 30 you deserve more than just one day of celebrations :) For the past few days, I have had my share of cakes, pies, ice cream to last me until I’m 40. They were all so delicious. Thanks to everyone who has sent me some birthday love…you sure do know how to make a girl feel incredible! Only four days in and already 30 has treated me well. Looking forward to all the adventures this new decade has for me :)

We are in full swing over here. Shot our 2nd wedding of the season on Friday + will be leaving to Mexico on the weekend for number 3. This also means we have been busy during the week photographing our amazing couples as they prepare for their wedding days! We met up with Ashley + Donny on a perfect evening in Steveston for their engagement session. These two know how to have a good time + I’m pretty sure I laughed the entire session thanks to Donny. They will be getting married in September + we are so excited to be a part of their day!

So it happened. I officially turned the big 30. As I sat on my bed last night and watched the clock enter into a new day, not gonna lie, I had a moment of panic…Oh my goodness I’m thirty. It is hard for me to imagine that my twenties can be topped but I am a big believer that our greatest days are always in front of us, not behind us. In my twenties, I graduated from college, met + married the love of my life, traveled to many parts of the world, started a business, moved to Vancouver, became an auntie 5 times, and met some amazing people that are still my dearest friends. So if my greatest days are yet to come, I cannot wait to see what the thirties have in store for me. Bring it on.

Mike and I have been out of the office for the past couple days as we have been attending the Canada Photo Convention here in our own city. We had the privilege of sitting in a room with many talented photographers from all over the world + hear from a few of my personal favourites. Our brains are on overload this morning + I know for me personally, my heart is ready to explode with all the inspiration we have gained. Looking forward to next years conference!

Today is engagement shoot day with some of our dear friends from Calgary + then we are starting our trip back to the prairies tonight! Can’t wait to snuggle with my niece + nephews and do farm life with the rest of the fam. I am looking forward to home cooked meals, and a break from the hustle and bustle of city life. This summer is going to be our busiest wedding season to date, so a little R&R with my family is just what I need before it all starts. Speaking of weddings, Stacy + Josh will be getting married in May and we are so excited to be a part of their day! Here are a few favourites from our recent engagement session with these two.

April 6th was the day that Tanya + Serge became husband + wife. April 6th was also the official start to our 2013 wedding season! It’s actually hard to believe that it’s already here. Tanya + Serge and their beautiful lavendar themed Heritage Hall wedding was a perfect way to kick off what is going to be our best year yet! We are so thankful to have a booked up season + excited for all the incredible weddings we get to be a part of. The blog is about to get really busy :)

The first time we met Tanya + Serge in person was the day before their wedding. We had initally met them over skype a few months back as they live on the other side of the country in Halifax. Oh how I love technology! As Serge is from the east + Tanya is from Vancouver, celebrating with their closest family + friends was what was most important to them. And I must say that these two are blessed to have such amazing family + friends to do life with. We left the wedding feeling like we had just spent the day with people we had known for years. I love when that happens. In Fact, we felt so close that I even let one of the groomsmen who missed the memo on the shoe colour borrow my boots for a few shots…there is a first for everything!

We have an exciting week ahead with the Canada Photo Convention starting today, a visit from dear friends, 2 amazing engagement sessions, and a trip back to the prairies to see family! It’s going to be busy but so fun :) Hope you all have a fabulous week!
