2012. A year of goals being met, countless hours behind our cameras, growth, change, seeing place we’ve never seen, expectations being exceeded, taking risks, and getting to meet so many incredible people during the last 12 months of this journey. When we think back to this year we can only say that we are truly blessed. We love what we do + getting to capture life with our cameras is a gift that we are so thankful for. We got to witness so many beautiful moments this year + you are about to see a few of them. At first, the task of picking some of our favourite images was a bit overwhelming. Thousands of pictures were taken this year + how do we narrow it down to under 200 images? So we might not have picked the ‘best’ or even your favourites but they are the images that make us feel something. I’m not going to apologize for the length…instead I’m going to warn you that it’s a long one so you may want to grab a coffee, put up your feet, and take a few moments out of your monday morning to enjoy a few of the beautiful moments we saw this year.

First of all we apologize for how quiet the blog has been lately. The fall has been a busy one for us with a couple trips to Mexico (I know, rough right?) and catching up on our piles of editing. But we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel + are really excited to share with you some of the stuff we have been up to lately.

First up is Ashley + Raj, one of our amazing couples getting married next year. From our very first meet up, we had an instant connection with these two and were so excited when they booked us for their two day wedding event next summer. Ashley + Raj are the kind of people you love to be around + this was proven true after their engagement session this fall. It felt as though we had spent the day with two people we had known for years. Their engagement session was in two parts…Part one was in traditional Indian attire…Part two was all about something they love very much…books! Ashley + Raj got engaged at the New York Public Library so it was only fitting to incorporate books into their engagement session. We have been wanting to do a shoot in a bookstore for quite some time but were waiting for the perfect couple. I think we found them.

I am happy to report that Hurricane Paul has passed + we are enjoying the beautiful sunshine here in Cabo. Mike is currently on an adventure to catch a Marlin and I am sitting pool side working on my pasty white skin. People keep telling me that I shouldn’t be working on vacation but I just couldn’t resist posting a few favorite images from a fall engagement session with Lauren + Joseph…one of our amazing couples getting married next summer!

We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family! Although we did not get to be with our families this year, we did get to enjoy some yummy turkey with our amazing friends. I love Thanksgiving. I love that the holiday lands in my favorite time of year, I love turkey + all the fixings, and I love how it’s a holiday based around being thankful! That’s pretty cool. I could write an entire post of all the things I am thankful for {and I just might do that someday} but for now I am only going to name one thing…my job. I love getting to meet clients like these two (you might remember them from a couple weeks back when we posted part one of their engagement session). I first met Matthew over the interwebs…my grandma would have a hard time wrapping her brain around that one. We knew some of the same people, he started to like our work, and eventually we become friends on facebook. We did not officially meet until we got together with him + his lovely fiance Carmen to talk about their wedding next summer. Matthew is an amazing photographer {you should check out his work} who just relocated to Edmonton to be close to his lady. Being asked to photograph someones wedding is always a humbling moment…getting asked by a fellow artist is a whole other level. Carmen + Matthew are such a sweet, kind, madly in love, full of life couple. We are so blessed to have met them + cannot wait for their June wedding!

One of the first things we learned about these two is that they love books…so along with a book themed wedding we also had a book themed engagement session!
